Welcome to the author lead magnet template pack!

There are a few things in this template pack. First, I’ll go over the templates that are inside to help you choose the lead magnet option that works best for you. You can create one lead magnet or use all the templates to create several!

I also have some promo graphics and swipe copy for you to use to promote and deliver your lead magnet.

Finally, I have a few tech support notes to help you get your lead magnet out into the world. I also have a form you can fill out if you have any specific questions, and I’ll answer them via email or with a video tutorial. Those questions and answers will also live on this page to form as an “FAQ & Tutorial Library” for everyone.

Psst…you’ll see me using the terms freebie, lead magnet, and opt-in. They all mean the same thing. It’s the free thing you offer in exchange for email addresses.

The Lead Magnets

📖 Book Club Guide

This is a great lead magnet choice for all books, no matter what genre you write. In your Book Club Guide, you’ll give suggested discussion questions, trivia, recipes, a playlist, and reading schedules.

If your book features any chef or baker characters, specific recipes, or character comfort foods, this is a great way to share those recipes and offer your readers some bonus content.

🗺️ Location Guide

If your book’s setting is a real place, a location guide is a great option for your lead magnet. You could share real locations your characters visit in the book or your favorites from that particular place.

This is another option that works well for pretty much any book. Create a bookmark with a quote or book artwork that readers can print at home.

🎧 Playlist

A playlist is another option that works for almost anyone. You could share the playlist that you listened to while writing the book, or you could share a playlist that belongs to one of your characters and fill it with songs that character would listen to. You can also share a link to the playlist in a music app.

Tech Support Notes

  • Once you’ve finished editing your lead magnet in Canva, download the document as a PDF.

Upload your PDF to Google Drive, and then go to “Share”. Make sure permissions are set to “Anyone with the link” and “Viewer”. This way everyone who signs up will be able to see and download the freebie but not edit it. Copy that share link.

Paste that share link into your delivery email that people will get when they sign up for your lead magnet.

To set up that delivery email, you will use your email service provider. You’ll create an opt-in form for the lead magnet, and then set up an automated email that contains your Google Drive link that sends once people fill out the opt-in form.

  • I use and recommend Flodesk. It’s easy to use, allows you to create beautiful emails, and has additional functions like checkouts and countdowns to engage your readers and make more sales. Try out Flodesk for 25% off your first year. (affiliate link)
